Village LakeDescription:

A former gravel pit of some 40 acres with an average depth of about 2.5m, it has swims on both sides. All the pegs are wide and spacious with ample room for up to 2 anglers and their bivvies, in a calm and rural environment. Most swims can be driven to and all can be pre-booked.

Stock:

Village contains a very large head of big carp, catfish & sturgeon. The biggest carp go to high 50's (lake record 56lb mirror) and the catfish up to 150lb! There are very few weeks which don't see 40lb carp gracing the banks and captures of thirty pound fish are very common. As an added bonus there are a number of sturgeon, which were stocked a few years ago and go to around 25lb.

Facilities:

There is a clean, modern toilet and shower block and further "porta-loo" toilets situated at several points around the lake and there are freezer facilities which anglers can use for bait storage.

One of the highlights of Village is the quality restaurant which is situated at one end of the lake. This is not just a snack bar - French people come from miles around to eat here! You can buy excellent meals... from a cup of tea & snacks through to a full A La Carte menu. The prices are good and the food is simply superb. There's a terrace outside overlooking the lake which is lovely if the weather is good, but there's plenty of room inside for chillier days.

The restaurant is tucked away at one end of the lake & does not interfere with the fishing at all, in fact you can't even see it from most pegs, but it's a real bonus if you don't fancy bivvy cooking. The restaurant and excellent shower & toilet facilities make Village a good choice for anglers taking non-fishing partners
